Along with smartphones, Samsung also produces mobile chipsets under its Exynos lineup. This year, the company introduced its Galaxy S10 series with Exynos 9820 processor. The Galaxy S10 features two variants based on the processor – Snapdragon 855 and Exynos 9820. But now the company has introduced its Exynos 9825 SoC as the successor of Exynos 9820 chipset. Also, the Galaxy Note 10 series is about to launch with this processor.

First of all, let’s compare their CPUs, here Exynos 9825 features a 64-bit octa-core CPU which includes 4 custom cores clocked at 2.73GHz, 2 Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2.4GHz. While its other 4 Cortex-A55 cores running at 1.95GHz clock speed. On the other side, Snapdragon 855 also brings a 64-bit CPU which has Kryo 485 CPU cores. Talking about their camera section, the Exynos 9825 supports up to 22MP single camera and dual camera up to 16MP + 16MP the same as Exynos 9820 SoC. In terms of video recording, it can record up to 8K videos at 30fps and up to 4K Ultra HD videos at 150fps.
While on the other side, Snapdragon 855 got the company’s Spectra 380 Image Signal Processor which is a 14-bit dual ISP and can support a dual camera up to 22MP at 30fps with MFNR & ZSL. In terms of the single-camera it has support for up to 48MP single camera at 30fps with MFNR & ZSL and up to 192MP without MFNR & ZSL. It is capable to record videos in 720p at 480fps. Here the Exynos 9825 supports 4x LPDDR4X RAM up to 12GB at 2093MHz. While Snapdragon 855 can support 4x 16bit LPDDR4X RAM up to 12GB at 2133MHz.
In terms of storage, both chipsets support UFS 3.0 & UFS 2.1 based storage.
In the case of display, the Exynos 9825 can support WQUXGA displays with a resolution of up to 3840×2400 pixels and 4K UHD displays with a resolution of up to 4096×2160 pixels. While Snapdragon 855 can support up to 4K Ultra HD HDR10+ displays with a resolution of up to 4096×2160 pixels.

Both chipsets are flagship chipsets so they perform very well in terms of AI. Here the Exynos 9825 got an integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) which can provide the next generation of mobile experiences from AI-powered photography to augmented reality. The company claims that this NPU with fast and efficient AI processing, brings new possibilities for on-device AI from object recognition for optimized photos, to a suite of performance-enhancing intelligence features such as usage pattern recognition and faster app pre-loading.
While on the other side, Snapdragon 855 got Qualcomm Hexagon 690 DSP which has been paired with the company’s 4th Gen AI Engine. According to the company’s claims, with a dedicated AI processing unit, the Snapdragon 855 is capable to perform 7 trillion calculations in one second. It also brings some AI enhancements in the imaging with the help of which is can provide better photography experience. In terms of camera, voice, XR, and gaming, it delivers smarter, faster and more secure experiences.
In the case of connectivity, the Exynos 9825 got Shannon 5000 Integrated LTE modem which uses LTE Cat.20 to capture a download speed of up to 2Gbps and an upload speed of up to 316Mbps.
While Snapdragon 855 features Snapdragon X50 Modem which also uses LTE Category 20 to capture a download speed of up to 2Gbps and LTE Category 13 for uploading speed up to 316Mbps. It also includes other connectivity features like tri-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, Dual 4G VoLTE, VoWiFi, GPS, FM Radio, NFC, etc. For fast charging, it has support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology.
