Snapdragon 600 series is a most-popular series of Qualcomm in the mid-range segment. Many smartphones with this series were introduced in the last two to three years. A few couple months ago, MediaTek – a competitor of Qualcomm, was introduced its Helio P35 chipset for mid-range devices. Earlier, this company was not in a competition of Qualcomm. Qualcomm was the king in terms of SoC manufacturing for smartphones. But now, MediaTek is giving a tight competition to Qualcomm by launching chipsets against it. MediaTek chipsets cost much lesser compared to the Snapdragon.

Let’s compare the next section which is the CPU. In the case of CPU, MediaTek Helio P35 ships with most powerful octa-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPUs which runs with the clock speed of 2.3GHz. Its 4 Cortex-A53 clocked at 2.3GHz while the other 4 Cores running at 1.8GHz. On the other hand, Snapdragon 625 is one of the introduced chipsets by Qualcomm which contains 8x ARM Cortex A53 Octa-Core CPU which operates with a speed of up to 2.0GHz. Both of these chipsets have a CPU architecture of 64-bit. In terms of CPU, MediaTek Helio P35 is ahead over Snapdragon 625 having higher CPU frequency because of which its CPU performs better over CPU of Snapdragon 625.



In the case of GPU, MediaTek Helio P35 features the IMG PowerVRGE8320 GPU which operates with the speed of 680MHz. At the same time, Snapdragon 625 has Qualcomm Adreno 506 GPU and OpenGL ES 3.0 as its API Support.

In the case of camera support, Snapdragon 625 has a 2x Image Signal Processor which can allow it to support up to 24MP single camera and video recording in 4K Ultra HD at 30fps.

On the other side, MediaTek Helio P35 can support a single camera up to 25MP at 30fps and 13MP + 13MP dual-camera at 30fps. In this case, also Helio P35 is better compared to Snapdragon 625 having support for a better single camera and the dual camera also.

Speaking of Snapdragon 625, it supports up to 4GB LPDDR3 RAM operating at 933MHz. It the case of storage, it supports eMMC 5.1 and SD 3.0 types of storage.

At the same time, in terms of display support, MediaTek Helio P35 supports a max display resolution of up to 2400 x 1080px and Snapdragon 625 supports a max display resolution of up to 1900x1200px.

Connectivity Features Comparison

In this section, Snapdragon 625 got the Qualcomm Snapdragon X9 LTE modem for the mobile network which is capable to capture a download speed of up to 300Mbps using LTE Category 7 and an upload speed of up to 150Mbps using LTE Category 13. It also supports Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, USB 3.0, VoLTE with SRVCC , VoWiFi, GPS and dual-band WiFi 802.11ac Wave 2, 802.11a/b/g, 802.11n. For charging, it supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

On the other hand, MediaTek Helio P35 has LTE Cat-4 modem which also can provide a download speed of up to 300Mbps using LTE Category 7 and an upload speed of up to 150Mbps using LTE Category 13. It supports Bluetooth Version 5.0, Wi-Fi 5 (a/b/g/n/ac), Glonass, GPS, etc.

  1. MediaTek is always better from Snapdragon, even benchmarking tests say it all. It is best for mid-range phones and even entry-level phones. Helio P35 happens to be the biggest competitor of all and is doing really well. You see from the configurations as well.
