Taiwanese chipmaker company MediaTek announced its new chipset Helio P65 a few days ago as a successor of Helio P60 and Helio P70. This is an Octa-Core chipset which packs 2 Cortex-A75 Cores and 6 Cortex-A55 Cores. It is build using 12nm finfet process. This chipset is claimed to offer up to 25% faster performance, 2X Faster AI-Performance and 30% faster performance in terms of camera department. This chipset also comes with support for 48MP camera which is in trending nowdays. To give it competition, there is another chipset available in the market from its competitior Qualcomm. That chipset is Snapdragon 675. Here we will try to find out how Helio P65 performs against Snapdragon 675 or which one is better chipset between Helio P65 and Snapdragon 675. Let’s compare MediaTek Helio P65 vs Snapdragon 675 and know the difference between Helio P65 and Snapdragon 675.
Helio P65 vs Snapdragon 675 CPU & GPU
Starting the comparision with CPU of Helio P65, it houses an Octa-Core CPU based on 64-bit architecture. This chipset works on 12nm manufacturing process. In the case of CPU Cores, it features 2 Cortex-A75 powerful Cores running at 2GHz for handling heavy tasks and other 6 Cortex-A55 Cores for normal tasks. In case of GPU, it houses Arm Mali-G52 2EEMC2 GPU with maximum frequency of 820MHz. It can support up to 2520 x 1080p displays.
On the other hand, the Snapdragon 675 also has an Octa-Core CPU based on 64-bit architecture. This chipset works on 11nm manufacturing process. It features 8 Kryo 460 cores divided in two clusters – fast cluster and power saving efficiency cluster. The fast cluster has 2 Cortex-A76 Cores clocked at 2GHz and the power saving efficiency cluster has 6 Cortex-A55 Cores running at 1.6GHz. In the case of GPU, it features Adreno 612 GPU. It can support up to 2520x1080p displays.
In the case of CPU and GPU, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 performs better having better CPU and GPU. Also it has better manufacturing process.
Helio P65 vs Snapdragon 675 Camera & Optics
Moving on camera department, the MediaTek Helio P65 can support single camera up to 48MP at 17fps. In case of dual camera it supports up to 16MP dual camera at 30fps. Its camera can support features such as AI Face Unlock, AI Smart Photo Album, Single-Cam/Dual-Cam Bokeh, EIS, RSC, MEMA 3DNR and Multi-Frame Noise reduction.
At the same time, the Snapdragon 675 has Spectra 250L ISP, 14-bit 2x Image Signal Processor which allows it to support dual camera up to 16MP at 30fps with MFNR and ZSL. In case of single camera it can support up to 25MP single camera at 30fps with MFNR and ZSL. If you can compromise with ZSL then it can support up to 48MP camera and if you can compromize with MFNR and ZSL then it can support up to 192MP single camera.
It can record slow-motion videos in 720p at 240fps and 1080p at 120fps.
Helio P65 vs Snapdragon 675 RAM & Storage
In case of RAM support, the Helio P65 supports LPDDR3 RAM up to 4GB at 933MHz and LPDDR4X RAM up to 8GB at 1800MHz. In case of storage it supports eMMC 5.1 type of storage.
On other side, the Snapdragon 675 also supports up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and eMMC 5.1 type of storage.
Connectivity Features Comparison
Connectivity wise the Helio P65 supports Bluetooth version 5.0, Wi-Fi 5 (a/b/g/n/ac), GPS, eMBMS, Dual 4G VoLTE, VoLTE\ViLTE\WoWi-Fi etc. It uses LTE Cat-7 for downloading and LTE Cat-13 for uploading.
On the other hand, the Snapdragon 675 has Qualcomm’s X12 LTE modem which allows it to capture a download speed of up to 600Mbps using LTE Cat-12 and upload speed up to 150Mbps using LTE Cat-13. It also supports USB 3.1 and USB-C. To charge the battery it supports ualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology. Other connectivity features like Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS and VoLTE are same in both chipsets.
Now come on conclusion, both chipsets are mid-range chipsets but the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 features stronger CPU as well GPU. It also more power efficient SoC compared to Helio P65 because of 11nm manufacturing process instead of 12nm process. It also offers better camera and connectivity features. In overall comparision, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 beats Helio P65 easily.
