MediaTek has now another player in its Helio P series. Recently the company brought a new Helio P65 chipset. According to its name, it is an upgrade over the Helio P60 but it is also the successor of the Helio P70. The Snapdragon 730 was also announced recently by Qualcomm. The company introduced Snapdragon 665, 730 & 730G in this event. The Snapdragon 730 & 730G come as the successor of the Snapdragon 710 & 712. These are the strongest chipsets of the Snapdragon 700 series so we decided to compare them with the Helio P65. By comparing these chipsets, we will know the difference between the Helio P65 and the Snapdragon 730 and also know which chipset is better between the Helio P65 and the Snapdragon 730. Helio P65 vs Snapdragon 730 CPU & GPU
Start the comparison with the CPU section of the Helio P65 chipset, it brings a 64-bit eight-core CPU including little and big cores. Its big cores include 2 ARM Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2.0GHz and little cores include 6 Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0GHz clock speed. While on the other side, Snapdragon 730 also features the same 64-bit octa-core Kryo 470 CPU. The Kryo 470 CPU features high-performance and high-efficiency cores. Coming to the GPU section where the Helio P65 has the ARM Mali-G52 GPU clocked at 820MHz while the Snapdragon 730 brings the Adreno 618 GPU with a maximum speed of 500MHz. Here the Helio P65 features a higher frequency of its GPU whereas the Snapdragon 730 features a better GPU. So having a better GPU, the Snapdragon 730 is a better chipset than the Helio P65 because of which it delivers smooth gaming experience.
Looking at the manufacturing process, here the Snapdragon 730 is built using the 10nm manufacturing process. While on the other side, the Helio P65 works on the 10nm fabrication process like other chipsets of MediaTek. Here the difference of the 2nm makes a powerful and power-efficient chipset to the Snapdragon 730 compared to the Helio P65. The Snapdragon 730 will consume less power than the Helio P65.
Helio P65 vs Snapdragon 730 Artificial Intelligence
The mid-range chipsets of MediaTek are famous for its AI performance. The first time the company provided a dedicated APU in its Helio P65 chipset. After that, the Helio P70 came with improved AI features. Now the Helio P65 brings improved AI features over the Helio P60 and P70. According to the company’s claims, the Helio P65 brings 2X improved AI performance over its previous generation and 30% faster performance over its competitors.
At the same time, the Snapdragon 730 ships with the Hexagon 688 DSP coupled with Hexagon Vector eXtensions and the company’s All-Ways Aware technology. This is the company’s 4th gen engine that supports Qualcomm Tensor Accelerator for better AI output. Here both chipsets are expected to deliver almost equal AI performance. Both chipsets have great AI features in this segment. The Snapdragon 730 is an upper mid-range chipset while the Helio P65 is a mid-range chipset still its performance equal to the SD 730.
Connectivity Features Comparison
In the connectivity section, the Snapdragon 730 ships with the company’s Snapdragon X15 LTE modem to capture a maximum download speed of 800Mbps using LTE Cat.15 and an uploading speed of up to 150Mbps using LTE Cat.13. It also brings support for other features such as Dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS, USB 3.1, USB-C and Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology for fast charging.
At the same time, Helio P65 is capable to deliver a maximum downloading speed of 300Mbps using LTE Cat.7 and an uploading speed of up to 150Mbps using LTE Cat.13. It also has support for other features such as Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, FM Radio, etc.
Helio P65 vs Snapdragon 730 Other Features
Moving to the camera section the company has provided the support for the 48MP camera sensor in Helio P65 considering the trend of this camera. The use of a 48MP camera in the mid-range segment is going on huge so the company provided support for it. It supports 48MP single camera at 17fps and 25MP single camera at 30fps, while in terms of dual camera, it has support for 16MP + 16MP camera at 30fps.
On the other side, in Snapdragon 730 the has provided its own Spectra 350 image signal processor which is a 14 bit dual ISP and capable to support a dual camera up to 22MP with MFNR & ZSL at 30fps and single camera up to 36MP at 30fps with MFNR & ZSL. It is also capable to support up to 48MP single camera sensor with MFNR and up to 192MP single camera without MFNR & ZSL. Recording features are almost the same in both chipsets.
RAM & Storage
Speaking of RAM support, the Helio P65 has support for LPDDR3 RAM up to 4GB clocked at 933MHz and LPDDR4X RAM up to 8GB operating to 1800MHz. While the Snapdragon 730 supports 16-bit dual-channel LPDDR4X RAM up to 8GB clocked at 1866MHz.
In the case of storage, the Helio P65 has support for eMMC 5.1 based storage whereas the Snapdragon 730 supports UFS 2.1 based storage which is better than eMMC 5.1.
In the case of display, the Helio P65 can support up to Full HD+(2520 x 1080 pixels) displays while the Snapdragon 730 also supports Full HD+(2520×1080 pixels) displays.

Now coming to the conclusion, the Helio P65 has stronger AI feature which are also in the Snapdragon 730. Snapdragon 730 brings better CPU, better GPU, bettet manufacturing process, camera, RAM & Storage feature than the Helio P65. So in overall comparison, Snapdragon 730 comes as the winner over the Helio P65.
