MediaTek recently introduced two new gaming-centric chipsets in the mid-range segment under its Helio G90 series. These chipsets are MediaTek Helio G90 and Helio G90T. The Helio G90T brings some better features over Helio G90. These chipsets are specifically designed gamers who use mid-range devices and can’t afford flagship smartphones. The Helio G90 series will compete with the Snapdragon 700 series of Qualcomm. MediaTek Helio G90 and Helio G90T both are combined with MediaTek’s HyperEngine game technology to deliver an enhanced gaming experience over Snapdragon 730 and 730G chipsets.
In the past posts, we have compared the Helio G90 and G90T SoCs with flagship and mid-range chipsets of Qualcomm, HiSilicon and Exynos. Here we will also do its comparison with Exynos 9610 – a mid-range chipset of Qualcomm and trying to find out the difference between Helio G90 and Exynos 9610 chipsets. The Helio G90 and G90T are gaming chipsets and bring many improved features because of which they perform better over mid-range chipsets. But here we will tell you that which one is better chipset between Helio G90 and Exynos 9610. Let’s compare MediaTek Helio G90 vs Exynos 9610 chipsets.
Helio G90 vs Exynos 9610 CPU & GPU
Starting the comparison with CPU, speaking of CPU of MediaTek Helio G90, it got an eight-core CPU based on 64-bit memory architecture which includes a combination of 2 + 6 cores. It has two powerful latest cores to handle heavy tasks like mobile gaming and 6 efficiency cores to perform in normal day-to-day tasks. Its performance of powerful cores includes 2 ARM’s Cortex-A76 cores while efficiency cores include 6 Cortex-A55 cores. Speaking of its speed, these all eight cores running with a maximum clock speed of up to 2.00GHz.
On the other hand, speaking of Exynos 9610, it also features an octa-core CPU based on 64-bit memory architecture. It includes a combination of 4 + 4 cores. Its first 4 powerful cores are Cortex-A73 running with a maximum clock speed of up to 2.3GHz while other 4 Cortex-A53 cores operating at 1.7GHz clock speed. Here the Helio G90 features better and latest CPU cores with better performance. So in this case, the newer Helio G90 has a better CPU over Exynos 9610.
Moving on GPU – main part for gaming, here the company has done many improvements in its Helio G90 series chipsets. The Helio G90 got ARM Mali-G76 3EEMC4 which works with a maximum speed of up to 720MHz. While on the other side, Exynos 9610 features ARM Mali-G72 MP3. In this case, the GPU of Helio G90 is better compared to the GPU of Exynos 9610. Also, the GPU of MediaTek Helio G90 is paired with MediaTek’s HyperEngine game technology for the enhanced gaming experience. No doubt here the Helio G90 will perform better over Exynos 9610.
In this case, Helio G90 or G90T don’t beat any SoC whose comparison we have done with these chipsets till now. The Helio G90/G90T still works on the 12nm manufacturing process while on the other side its competitors work on the 7-10nm manufacturing process. Here the Exynos 9610 also works on the 10nm FinFET Process which is better than 12nm of Helio G90/G90T. So in this case, Exynos 9610 is better than Helio G90.
Helio G90 vs Exynos 9610 Supported Features
Moving to the camera department, the first talk about the camera section of Helio G90. It brings improvements over its previous generations. It got a triple Image Signal Processor. Using this ISP it can support up to 48MP single camera sensor at 30fps and up to 24MP + 16MP dual camera sensors at 30fps. On the other side, Exynos 9610 is capable to support up to 24MP single and up to 16MP + 16MP dual camera. In this case, the Helio G90 has better camera support because of which you can do better photography with Helio G90.
Here the Helio G90 got support for LPDDR4X RAM up to 8GB running at 2133MHz while Exynos 9610 also supports up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM. It supports RAM at 1866MHz.
In this case, both Helio G90 and Exynos 9610 support the same storage which is UFS 2.1 and eMMC 5.1.
Speaking of Helio G90, it supports up to Full HD+ and 21:9 displays at 60Hz. On the other side, Exynos 9610 supports WQXGA displays with a maximum resolution of up to 2560×1600 pixels.
Helio G90 vs Exynos 9610 Artificial Intelligence
MediaTek is also improving AI features of its mid-range chipsets. The first time the company used a dedicated APU in Helio P60, after that in Helio P90 the company provided a dual APU. In Helio G90, also the company has provided improved AI features. The Helio G90 features the company’s dual APU operating at 750MHz. Its CPU, GPU, and APU are paired with the company’s HyperEngine game technology. And the combination of its CPU, GPU and APU are capable to deliver AI performance up to 1TMACs.
On the other side, Exynos 9610 features Vision Image Processing Unit which has Digital Signal Processor & Neural Network Engine. With the help of these features such as DSP and NNE, it can provide some great AI-powered Photography features. But it can’t beat Helio G90 with these AI features because the Helio G90 brings stronger and advanced AI features over Exynos 9610.
Connectivity-wise Exynos 9610 has LTE Cat.12 3CA that is capable to capture up to 600Mbps downloading speed and up to 150Mbps uploading speed using LTE Cat.13 2CA. It also includes other options like Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth® 5.0, FM Radio, GPS, GLONASS, etc.
At the same time, MediaTek Helio G90 also has 4G LTE Cat-12 modem which can provide up to 600Mbps downloading speed and up to 150Mbps uploading speed using LTE Cat.13. Other options like Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi, Dual VoLTE, VoWiFi, eMBMS, etc. are also supported in Helio G90.
