In MWC 2018, MediaTek was launched its Helio P60 chipset. After the success of Helio P60 chipset, the company was launched Helio P70 chipset after six months of launch of MediaTek Helio P60 chipset. It seems that the company was launched Helio P70 chipset in hurry, because we don’t get any improved feature in Helio P70 chipset to call it successor of Helio P60 chipset. Now the company introduced a new mid-range chipset Helio P65. Having better features and specs, MediaTek Helio P65 is the successor of Helio P60 and Helio P70 chipset. This chipset offers many improved features compared to Helio P60 and P70 chipset. But here we are not to compare this chipset with Helio P60 or Helio P70 chipset. Starting with CPU of Helio P65 chipset, it has a 64-bit octa-core CPU. It has 2+6 cores with a clocked speed of 2.0GHz. It has 2 ARM Cortex-A75 Cores while other 6 cores are Cortex-A55 cores, all of these are working with a clocked speed of up to 2.0GHz. The Helio P65 chipset works on th 12nm process technology. In terms of GPU, the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset has Mali G52 GPU clocked at 800MHz. This GPU is also used in HiSilicon Kirin 810 chipset.

At the same time the Exynos 7904 is also a 64-bit octa-core chipset and works on the 14nm fabrication process. Speaking of its cores, it has 2 ARM Cortex-A73 powerful cores with clocked speed of 1.8GHz to work in heavy tasks while other 6 cores are Cortex-A55 with clocked speed of 1.6GHz to work in normal tasks. In terms of GPU, the Exynos 7904 chipset has Mali G71 MP2 GPU.

In terms of CPU & GPU, the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset comes as winner because it has newer and stronger cores as well as GPU. Its GPU is also newer and better compared to Exynos 7904 chipset. Also it is more power efficient compared to the Exynos 7904 chipset.

Camera

Talking about MediaTek Helio P65, it can support a 48MP single camera while its downgrade variants Helio P60 and Helio P70 don’t support 48MP camera. In terms of dual camera the Helio P65 supports 16+16MP dual camera.

On other side, the Exynos 7904 it can support up to 32MP camera while in terms of dual camera it can support 16+16MP dual camera. Here also the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset wins having support of 48MP camera.

RAM & Storage

Speaking of RAM support, the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset supports up to 4GB LPDDR3 and up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM. In terms of storage, it supports eMMC5.1 storage.

At the same time the Exynos 7904 also supports up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and in case of storage it supports eMMC 5.1 storage. Here both chipset perform good, no one is winner.

Connectivity Features

Connectivity wise the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset has modem which uses Cat.7 for download and Cat.13 for upload. While the Exynos 7904 has Cat.12 for download with speed of up to 600Mbps and Cat.13 for upload with speed of up to 150Mbps. While other connectivity features like 4G VoLTE, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, etc. are same in both chipsets.

Conclution

Speaking of overall comparision, the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset comes as winner because it has newer and better GPU, better camera support and it is more power efficient than the Exynos 7904 chipset. The clocked speed of MediaTek Helio P65 chipset is also higher compared to Exynos 7904 chipset. So the newer MediaTek Helio P65 chipset easily beats to Exynos 7904 chipset.
