Samsung Exynos 9610 vs MediaTek Helio P65
In June 2019, MediaTek unveiled Helio P65 chipset as a successor of Helio P60 and Helio P70. Its name suggests that it is an upgrade over Helio P60 only but it brings improved features over Helio P70 too. Exynos 9610 is also a mid-range chipset of Samsung which was the most successful mid-range chipset. Considering this we decided to compare both of them. Exynos 9610 vs Helio P65 CPU & GPU
Starting with the CPU section of MediaTek Helio P65 where it features a 64 Bit octa-core CPU including the combination of 2 + 6 CPU cores. It includes 2 ARM Cortex-A75 big cores clocked at 2.00GHz and other 6 Cortex-A55 little cores running at 2.00GHz also. While on the other side, Samsung Exynos 9610 also got an octa-core CPU based on 64 Bit architecture including the combination of 4 + 4 CPU cores. Its first 4 cores are ARM Cortex-A73 big cores running at 2.30GHz and other 4 Cortex-A53 little cores operating at 1.60GHz clock speed.
Here MediaTek Helio P65 brings better and latest CPU cores with higher CPU frequency. Having the latest CPU cores with higher CPU frequency, MediaTek Helio P65 outperforms over Exynos 9610.
Looking at their GPU section, here MediaTek Helio P65 ships with ARM Mali-G52 GPU clocked at 820MHz while Exynos 9610 is coupled with ARM Mali-G72 GPU. Here also MediaTek Helio P65 got better GPU than Exynos 9610 because of which it delivers fluid and smooth gaming experience to the device. So here also the Helio P65 is a batter chipset than Exynos 9610.
Speaking of their manufacturing process, here MediaTek Helio P65 works on the 12nm manufacturing process the same as other mid-range processors of MediaTek. MediaTek used quite often this process technology in its processors, the company is using this 12nm process technology for a long time in its processors and now the company should upgrade from it. While on the other side, Exynos 9610 is fabricated on the 10nm manufacturing process which is better than the Helio P65. The difference of 2nm makes Exynos 9610 more power-efficient chipset than MediaTek Helio P65. So here Samsung Exynos 9610 is a more power-efficient chipset the Helio P65.
MediaTek Helio P60 was the first chipset having a dedicated APU in the mid-range segment because of which to performs very well in terms of AI processing. The Helio P70 comes with upgraded AI features over MediaTek Helio P60 so it delivers better AI performance and the Helio P65 is a successor of Helio P60 and P70 so obviously it will perform better in AI processing over Helio P60 and Helio P70. It features an NPU design that means it has a dedicated single-core part in the processor which devoted to AI.
While on the other side, Exynos 9610 is not an AI-based processor. The company has not focused on AI in this chipset. So we can’t expect better AI performance from it like MediaTek Helio P65. It brings normal AI features to make photography better. So here the Helio P65 is ahead over Exynos 9610 having better AI features.
Exynos 9610 Helio P65 Supported Features
Moving to their camera features, here MediaTek Helio P65 got support for a 48MP single camera sensor at 17fps. The use of a 48MP camera sensor in mid-range devices is going on huge. Considering this the company provided support for this sensor in this chipset. In terms of dual camera, it has support for 16MP + 16MP dual camera sensors at 30fps and at 30fps it also supports a 25MP single camera sensor.
On the other hand, Exynos 9610 brings support for a 24MP single camera and dual camera up to 16MP + 16MP. Here MediaTek Helio P65 has support for a better camera sensor because of which it delivers a better photography experience to the user.
RAM & Storage
Here the Helio P65 has support for LPDDR3 RAM up to 4GB clocked at 933MHz and 16Bit or 32Bit Dual-Channel LPDDR4X RAM up to 8GB operating 1800MHz while Exynos 9610 supports 16Bit Quad-Channel LPDDR4X RAM up to 6GB clocked at 1600MHz. While in the case of storage MediaTek Helio P65 supports eMMC 5.1 based storage while Exynos 9610 brings support for UFS 2.1 & eMMC 5.1 based storage.
Speaking of their display section, here MediaTek Helio P65 supports a maximum display resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels while Exynos 9610 supports WQXGA displays with a resolution of up to 2560×1600 pixels.
Here MediaTek Helio P65 is capable to capture a maximum download speed of 300Mbps using LTE Cat.7 and an uploading speed of up to 150Mbps using LTE Cat.13. It supports other features such as Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, GPU, FM Radio, etc.
On the other side, Exynos 9610 uses LTE Cat.12 3CA to provide a maximum download speed of 600Mbps and an uploading speed of up to 150Mbps using LTE Cat.13. It also has support for other features like Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, FM Radio, GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, etc.
As you saw in the comparison, MediaTek Helio P65 has better CPU, better GPU and bette AI Performance than Exynos 9610 although, the AI performance of all mid-range chipsets of MediaTek is great. Exynos 9610 has just better manufacturing process while in almost all aspects, MediaTek Helio P65 is better.
