A few days ago, MediaTek unveiled its new chipset Helio P65 for mid-range devices as a successor of MediaTek Helio P60 and Helio P70 launched last year. The MediaTek Helio P65 brings improved features compared to Helio P60, P70 & better gaming experience and 25% faster performance compared to alternatives. The Helio P65 arrives with a 100% boost in AI performance and a 30% improvement in AI camera. This chipset also has support for the 48MP camera which is being used too much in smartphones. Helio P65 vs Helio P60 CPU & GPU

CPU

Starting with CPU of Helio P65 chipset, it features an octa-core CPU based on 64-bit. It is build using the 12nm fabrication process. This chipset supports two high-performance ARM Cortex-A75 cores clocked at up to 2.0GHz clock speed and the other six Cortex-A55 cores for handling normal tasks.

At the same time, the Helio P60 also has 64-bit octa-core CPU working on 12nm manufacturing process. Its CPU includes 4 Cortex-A73 big cores running with a maximum speed of 2.0GHz while other 4 Cortex-A53 cores also works with a maximum speed of 2.0GHz

GPU

Speaking of Helio P65, it is coupled with the Mali-G52 GPU with a peak frequency of 820MHz. This chipset can support a maximum display resolution of up to 2520×1080 pixels.

In the case of GPU, the Helio P60 features Mali G72-MP3 GPU at 800MHz. It supports a maximum display resolution of up to 1920 x 1080pixels. So here the Mali-G52 GPU present on Helio P65, is better than the GPU of Helio P60.

Camera

Speaking of camera section, here MediaTek Helio P65 arrives with the support for a single camera up to 48 megapixels and a dual-camera setup of up to 16MP. This chipset also has a new ISP design for faster and more secure facial recognition. It also has camera features such as AI Face Unlock, AI Smart Photo Album, Single-Cam/Dual-Cam Bokeh, Hardware Warping Engine (EIS), Rolling Shutter Compensation (RSC) engine, MEMA 3DNR, and Multi-Frame Noise reduction. In terms of video recording, its 48MP camera can record videos at 17fps, 16 + 16MP at 30fps and 25MP at 30fps.

On the other side, the Helio P60 can support single camera up to 32MP and dual camera up to 24MP + 16MP.

RAM & Storage

In the case of RAM & Storage, the Helio P65 chipset supports up to 4GB LPDDR3 RAM with a maximum frequency of 933MHz and up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM with a maximum frequency of 1800MHz. It also supports the eMMC 5.1 type of storage.

On the other side, the the Helio P65 also has support for LPDDR3 RAM up to 4GB with a maximum frequency of 933MHz and up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM with a maximum frequency of 1800MHz. It supports eMMC 5.1 based UFS 2.1 storage.

Helio P65 vs Helio P60 AI Capabilities

Here the Helio P60 was the first chipset to come with a dedicated APU in mid-range. At its launching time, it was delivering great AI performance over almost all mid-range chipsets.

According to company’s claims, the MediaTek Helio P65 has 2X improved AI performance compared to its previous generation and 30% faster performance compared to its competitors in AI-camera tasks such as object recognition, Smart Photo Album, scene detection and segmentation with background removal, and single or dual camera Bokeh shots. The MediaTek Helio P60 was the first chipset to come with a dedicated AI Engine and the Helio P65 is its upgrade so it will provide 2X better performance compared to Helio P60.

Connectivity Features Comparison

Connectivity-wise the Helio P60 can capture a maximum download speed of 300Mbps using LTE Cat-7 and maximum upload speed of 150Mbps using LTE Cat-13.

On the other hand, the Helio P65 supports LTE Cat-7 for downloading and LTE Cat-13 for uploading. Other connectivity features in both chipsets are almost the same.
