MediaTek is known for mobile chipsets. It launches chipsets in mid-range and budget-range. In MWC 2018 the company was announced its Helio P60 chipset. This chipset was became popular in smartphone manufactures as well as smartphones users because of its great features. This was the first mid-range chipset for smartphones to come with a dedicated APU. After the 6 months of the launch of this chipset the company announced the Helio P70 chipset as a successor of this chipset.
In the MediaTek Helio P70 chipset we did not get to see much improvement to call it successor of Helio P60 chipset. But now the comapny has announced the real successor of Helio P60 and Helio P70 chipset – MediaTek Helio P65 chipset. By its name it seems a chipset between Helio P60 and Helio P70. But it has many improved features compared to Helio P60 and Helio P70 chipsets. We have compared this chipset with Helio P60 and Helio P70 chipsets. But here we are to compare MediaTek Helio P65 vs Snapdragon 660 Chipset so you can know the difference between Helio P65 and Snapdragon 660. If you also want to know that which one is better chipset between Helio P65 and Snapdragon 660 then read this post. Let’s compare them.
Helio P65 vs Snapdragon 660 CPU and GPU
Starting with CPU, let’s tell you that the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset is build using 12nm manufacturing process. Talking about the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset, it is a 64-bit octa-core chipset. It offers 2 Cortex-A75 Cores for working in heavy tasks and 6 Cortex-A55 Cores to handling normal tasks. All these cores work with a maximum speed of up to 2.0GHz. Speaking of GPU of Helio P65 chipset, here you get Mali G52 GPU with a maximum speed of up to 800MHz in this chipset.
On the other side the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset is build using 14nm manufacturing process. Speaking of CPU, it also has a 64-bit octa-core CPU. It offers 8 Kryo 260 Cores with a maximum speed of up to 2.2GHz. The Kryo 260 basically means it has 4 powerful Cortex A-73 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and 4 normal Cortex A-53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. In terms of GPU, the Snapdragon 660 chipset has Adreno 512 integrated GPU. In terms of CPU and GPU the newer Helio P65 chipset comes as a winner because of newer and stronger CPU and GPU. Also the Helio P65 chipset is more power efficient compared to Snapdragon 660 chipset because it works on 12nm manufacturing process instead of 14nm.
Helio P65 vs Snapdragon 660 Supported Features
Speaking of MediaTek Helio P65 chipset, it has support for 48MP Single camera sensor. Considering the growing use of the 48MP camera in the smartphones, the company has given this support in this chipset. This chipset can support 16 + 16MP dual camera too.
On the other the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset supports up to 16MP dual camera and up to 25MP single camera. Here the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset wins also, because it can support better dual and better single camera compared to Snapdragon 660 chipset.
Moving on RAM support, the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset supports LPDDR3 RAM up to 4GB and up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM whereas the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset supports up to 8GB LPDDR4 and LPDDR4X RAM. Speaking of storage, the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset supports eMMC5.1 storage while the Snapdragon 660 also supports eMMC 5.1 storage.
Talking about the display, the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset supports a maximum display resolution of up to 2520 x 1080 pixels while the Snapdragon 660 chipset supports a maximum display resolution of up to 2560×1600 pixels. Here the Snapdragon 660 is slightly better compared to Helio P65 chipset.
Helio P65 vs Snapdragon 660 Connectivity Features
Connectivity wise the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset’s modem uses LTE Cat.7 for download and Cat.13 for upload while the modem of Snapdragon 660 chipset uses LTE Cat.12 for download and Cat.13 for upload. The Snapdragon 660 chipset has Qualcomm X12 LTE modem, with the help of this this chipset can provide a download speed of up to 600Mbps and a upload speed of up to 150Mbps. Other features such as WiFi, Dual 4G VoLTE, Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) with LTE call continuity, HD and Ultra HD Voice (EVS), Bluetooth (5.0), and FM radio are same in both chipsets.
We saw above, the Snapdragon 660 chipset works on 14nm manufacturing process while the Helio P65 works on 12nm manufacturing process, also the Helio P65 offers stronger and newer CPU and GPU compared to Snapdragon 660 chipset. In overall comparision the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset comes as a winner with better features such as CPU, GPU and camera support.
