In MWC 2018, the Helio P60 chipset was announced by MediaTek. Because of many new features as well as a dedicated APU, this chipset was being liked by users as well as smartphone manufactures. After a time of 6 months of the launch of this chipset the company was launched a new chipset Helio P70 as the successor of Helio P60 chipset. This chipset offers nothing improved to call it the successor of Helio P60 chipset.
Now the company has announced a new chipset MediaTek Helio P65. According to name this chipset seems a chipset between Helio P60 and Helio P70. But it is a real successor of MediaTek Helio P60 as well as Helio P70 chipset. The MediaTek Helio P65 features improved CPU & GPU as well as many latest features compared to Helio P60 and Helio P70 chipset. But we are not comparing this chipset with Helio P60 and Helio P70 chipset because we have already compared it with these chipsets, you can read that articles by clicking on their names. Here we will compare MediaTek Helio P65 vs Snapdragon 675 chipset so you can know how the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset performs against Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset or which one is better chipset between Helio P65 and Snapdragon 675. Let’s compare them and find the difference between Helio P65 and Snapdragon 675.
MediaTek Helio P65 vs Snapdragon 675 CPU and GPU
Starting with CPU, the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset has an octa-core CPU and works on 64-bit system. It has combination of 2 + 6 cores. It offers 2 ARM Cortex A75 cores that works in heavy tasks while other 6 Cortex-A55 cores to handling normal tasks. All these cores work with a maximum speed of 2.0GHz. This chipset is build on 12nm manufacturing process. In terms of GPU, the Helio P65 chipset has Mali G52 CPU that is working at 800MHz clocking speed.
On other side speaking of Snapdragon 675 chipset, it is also a 64-bit octa-core chipset. It has Kryo 460 CPU means it has 2 Cortex-A76 gold cores clocked at up to 2.0GHz maximum clock speed while other 6 Cortex-A55 silver cores works with a maximum speed of up to 1.8GHz. The Snapdragon 675 chipset is build on 11nm manufacturing process. In terms of GPU, it has Adreno 612 integrated GPU.
In overall comparision of CPU and GPU, the Snapdragon 675 chipset performs slightly better compared to Helio P65 chipset because of better CPU and GPU, it also works on 11nm manufacturing process to consume lower power.
Helio P65 vs Snapdragon 675 Other Features
Speaking of Optics, the MediaTek Helio P65 can support a single camera of up to 48MP, this is why because every manufacture is trying to provide better as better camera sensor in its smartphone like 48MP sensor. For that the processor has to support 48MP sensor. The MediaTek Helio P60 and Helio P70 don’t support 48MP sensor, so the company has provided the support of 48MP sensor in Helio P65 chipset. Also in terms of dual camera the Helio P65 chipset can support 16 + 16MP dual camera setup.
On other side, talking about Qualcomm Snapdragon 675, it supports up to 25MP single camera and a dual camera of up to 16MP. The company claims this chipset can capture images up to 48MP, and the smartphones like Redmi Note 7 Pro are proving it.
RAM & Storage
The MediaTek Helio P65 chipset has support for up to 4GB LPDDR3 and up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM also the Snapdragon 675 chipset supports up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM. In the case of storage, both chipsets support eMMC5.1 storage.
Connectivity wise the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset has modem which uses LTE Cat.7 for download and Cat.13 for upload while the Snapdragon 675 chipset has X12 LTE Modem which uses LTE Cat-12 for download and LTE Cat-13 for download. It can provide download speed of up to 600Mbps and upload speed of up to 150Mbps. Also this chipset supports Qualcomm Quick charge 4+ technology. Other connectivity features like Dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth5.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, RF, USB are same in both chipsets.
In terms of of CPU and GPU, the Snapdragon 675 chipset performs slightly better compared to Helio P65 chipset because of better CPU and GPU. It also works on 11nm manufacturing process to consume lower power. The CPU and GPU are slightly better of Snapdragon 675 while in terms of other features both chipset performs almost same except power consumption.
