Recently, Qulcomm has introduced a new chipset under its Snapdragon 200 series for entry-level smartphones. This chipset is Snapdragon 215. The company has announced this chipset as a successor of Snapdragon 212 chipset. The Snapdragon 215 has a faster CPU, GPU and supports dual cameras compared to Snapdragon 212. It is still built on the old 28nm node and has 64-bit CPU. Snapdragon 215 vs Snapdragon 212 CPU & GPU
First of all, talk about the CPU of Snapdragon 215 chipset, it has a 64-bit Quad-Core CPU. It is made for budget-range smartphones from Rs. 5,000 – Rs. 8,000 and it is build using the old 28nm node. The CPU of Snapdragon 215 features 4 ARM’s Cortex-A53 cores with a clock speed of up to 1.3GHz. According to ARM’s claims, it is 50% faster compared to 4 A7 cores which are provided in the old chipset.
In terms of GPU, the Snapdragon 215 has Adreno 308 GPU, which is 28% faster compared to its predecessor.

Speaking of CPU of Snapdragon 212 chipset, 32-bit Quad-Core CPU. It was also introduced for entry-lavel smartphone in August 2018. It is also build using the 28nm node. The Snapdragon 212 chipset has 4 ARM’s Cortex-A7 Cores with a clock speed of up to 1.3GHz. In case of GPU, it has Adreno 304 GPU.
In terms of CPU & GPU, the Snapdragon 215 chipset performs better because it has better and improved CPU & GPU.
Snapdragon 215 vs Snapdragon 212 Supported Features
Camera & Optics
The Snapdragon 215 is a first chipset of 200 series to come with dual ISP which improves camera support. The Snapdragon 215 can support single camera of up to 13MP and dual camera of up to 8MP, so phones can have a tele camera or a depth sensor. It also can record full HD videos and video calling in HD. It can support maximum display resolution of 1560x720px and aspect ratio of 19:9.
On the other hand, the Snapdragon 212 can support up to 8MP single camera and can record videos in 720p. It doesn’t offer dual rear camera support and full HD video recording. It can support max display resolution of 1280x720px and 16:9 aspect ratio.

The Snapdragon 215 SoC can support up to 3GB LPDDR3 RAM with a max speed of up to 672MHz and eMMC 4.5 and SD 3.0 (UHS-I) storage.
At the same time, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 chipset supports LPDDR2 and LPDDR3 RAM with a max speed of up to 533MHz. Also it supports eMMC 4.5 SD 3.0 (UHS-I) types of storage.

Connectivity wise, the Snapdragon 215 got X5 LTE Modem which can provide a download speed of up to 150Mbps and a upload speed of up to 50Mbps. It also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 1.0 technology which charges smartphone up to 75 percent faster than Snapdragon 212. It also supports Bluetooth 4.1 while the Snapdragon 215 supports Bluetooth 4.2.
The Snapdragon 212 SoC also has X5 LTE modem which offers these features to this chipset.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 chipset has improved CPU, GPU, Camera and Connectivity features compared to Snapdragon 212. With these all improved features we can call it the rear successor of Snapdragon 212 chipset. We could get this chipset in budget range smartphones of Oppo, Vivo, Realme and Xiaomi from next year.
