For a smartphone which comes under $100 with Qualcomm’s chipset, features like dual camera, larger aspect ratio display and VoLTE calling are high time modern features. But the company has made them real. Recently, the company has introduced a new chipset of its 200 series for entry-lavel smartphones which cost between $75 and $130. This chipset is Qualcomm Snapdragon 215. It has many advanced features according to its price. It is a first chipset of 200 series to have 64-bit CPU. Here we are going to compare Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 vs Snapdragon 425 chipset and trying to find out the how the Snapdragon 215 chipset performs against Snapdragon 425 chipset or who is better between Snapdragon 215 and Snapdragon 425. Let’s tell you answer of all these questions.
Snapdragon 215 vs Snapdragon 425 CPU & GPU
Starting with CPU of Snapdragon 215, it has a 64-bit Quad-Core CPU and it is still build using 28nm process technology. It offers 4 ARM’s Cortex-A53 Cores with a max clock speed of up to 1.3GHz. This new chipset comes with a bunch of display upgrades, and now supports a 19.9:9 aspect ratio and HD+ (1560 x 720) display. While the Snapdragon 425 is also a 64-bit Quad-Core chipset and build using 28nm process technology. It features 4 ARM’s Cortex-A53 Cores with a maximum clock speed of up to 1.4GHz. This chipset can support a max display resolution of up to 1280x800p. Here the Snapdragon 425 chipset is slightly better compared to new Snapdragon 215 chipset.
In case of GPU, the Snapdragon 215 features Adreno 308 GPU and it supports OpenCL, OpenGL ES 3.2 and DirectX. While the Snapdragon 425 also offers Adreno 308 GPU and it supprots OpenGL ES 3.0. Here both chipset performs same having Adreno 308 GPU.
Snapdragon 215 vs Snapdragon 425 Camera & Optics
The Snapdragon 215 has 2x Image Signal Processor (ISP) which allows it to support a dual camera up to 8MP. single camera up to 13MP and video recording in 1080p at 30fps. On other side, the Snapdragon 425 chipset also has 2x Image Signal Processor (ISP) and it supports only single camera up to 16MP and 1080p video recording at 30fps. In this case the new Snapdragon 215 performs better having support for dual camera.
Snapdragon 215 vs Snapdragon 425 RAM & Storage
In this case the Snapdragon 215 chipset can support LPDDR3 RAM up to 3GB with a max speed of up to 533MHz and eMMC 4.5 and SD 3.0 (UHS-I) types of storage.
At the same time, the Snapdragon 425 supports LPDDR3 RAM with a max speed of up to 667MHz and eMMC 5.1 type of storage.
Snapdragon 215 vs Snapdragon 425 Connectivity
Connectivity wise the Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 has Snapdragon X5 LTE modem which allows it to reach at 150Mbps download speed and download speed of up to 50Mbps.
On the other hand the Snapdragon 425 has Snapdragon X6 LTE modem which allows it to provide a download speed of up to 150Mbps and download speed of up to 75Mbps. Here the Snapdragon 425 performs slightly better because of slightly better modem. Other connectivity options like Bluetooth, WiFi and 4G VoLTE are same in both chipsets.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 is a low-end chipset compared to Snapdragon 425 chipset but it is giving a sturdy competition to Snapdragon 425 chipset in many cases. However, the Snapdragon 215 is unable to beat Snapdragon 425 because it is a higher-range chipset compared to Snapdragon 215 but the Snapdragon 215 chipset does not let Snapdragon 425 go ahed.
