While the Snapdragon 730 & 730 are successors of Snapdragon 710. There is no need to compare them with their predecessors because we have already done it. Today we will compare Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 vs Exynos 7904 chipset. The Exynos 7904 is also a mid-range chipset of Samsung which we have seen in many smartphones of Samsung.

This chipset also a successful chipset of Samsung that offers great specs in mid-range. Snapdragon 665 vs Exynos 7904 CPU and GPU

CPU

First of all talk about their CPUs where both have a 64-bit octa-core CPU. Here the company named Kryo 260 to the CPU of Snapdragon 665. It features two groups of CPU cores, the first is a high-performance cores group which includes 4 ARM Cortex-A73 Gold Cores clocked at 2.00GHz while the second is high-efficiency cores group which houses 4 Cortex-A53 Silver Cores operating at up to 1.80GHz clock speed.

On the other side, Exynos 7904 divides its cores into two groups – big and little cores. The big core group houses 2 ARM Cortex-A73 Cores clocked at up to 1.80GHz while the little core group includes 6 Cortex-A53 Cores running at up to 1.60GHz clock speed. Here the CPU architecture of both chipsets is the same but Snapdragon 665 has better clock speed than Exynos 7904 which helps it to perform better than Exynos 7904.

In terms of CPU, the newer Snapdragon 665 is a better chipset than Exynos 7904 having higher frequency with the same CPU architecture.

GPU

Comparing their GPU section, here the newer Snapdragon 665 features the Adreno 610 GPU which has a tiny upgrade over the Adreno 512 GPU of Snapdragon 660. While Exynos 7904 has the Mali-G71 MP2 GPU to perform graphical tasks. Here again, Snapdragon 665 is stronger than Exynos 7904.

The newer Snapdragon 665 is a better chipset than Exynos 7904 having better GPU compared to Exynos 7904. Having better GPU, it is capable to provide a better experience in gaming and other graphical tasks.

Manufacturing Process

Now take a look at their manufacturing process, here the company also done improvements in Snapdragon 665 over Snapdragon 660. Snapdragon 665 is built using the 11nm manufacturing process while Exynos 7904 is fabricated on the 14nm FinFET Process. The difference in both chipsets is 3nm which makes Snapdragon 665 a better chipset than Exynos 7904.

The Exynos 7904 consumes more power than Snapdragon 665 and is a weak chipset than Snapdragon 665. Here also Snapdragon 665 wins having better process technology.

Artificial Intelligence

To perform all AI tasks, Snapdragon 665 got Qualcomm’s Hexagon 686 DSP which is an upgrade over the Hexagon 680 DSP present on Snapdragon 660. This DSP is coupled with Hexagon Vector eXtensions and Qualcomm All-Ways Aware technology. It features a decent AI performance in the mid-range segment. While Exynos 7904 is not designed for AI tasks. It can handle only a few normal AI tasks. So here Snapdragon 665 is ahead over Exynos 7904 having better AI processing.

Camera

In the camera department, Exynos 7904 has support for a single camera up to 32MP and up to 16MP dual camera. While Snapdragon 665 has the company’s Spectra 160 ISP which is also available on Snapdragon 660. It is a 14 bit dual IPS that can handle dual camera up to 16MP at 30fps with MFNR & ZSL and single camera up to 25MP with MFNR & ZSL at 30fps, up to 48MP single camera without MFNR & ZSL.

RAM and Storage

Here Snapdragon 665 supports 16-bit Dual-Channel LPDDR4X RAM up to 8GB clocked at 1866MHz while Exynos 7904 has support for LPDDR4X RAM up to 8GB clocked at 1600MHz.
In the case of storage, Exynos 7904 supports eMMC 5.1 based storage while Snapdragon 665 has support for storage types of eMMC 5.1 and UFS 2.1.

Display

In this case, Snapdragon 665 can support up to Full HD+ displays with a maximum resolution of 2560×1600 pixels while Exynos 7904 also has support for up to Full HD+ (2400×1080) displays.

In this section, Snapdragon 665 ships with the company’s Snapdragon X12 LTE Modem which basically uses LTE Cat.12 to achieve a maximum downloading speed of 600Mbps and an uploading speed of up to 150Mbps using LTE Cat.13. For fast charging, it supports Quick Charge 3.0 technology. It also supports other features like Dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, FM Radio, USB 3.1, etc.

At the same time, Exynos 7904 can provide a maximum downloading speed of 600Mbps using LTE Cat. 12 3CA and an uploading speed of 150Mbps using LTE Cat.13 2CA. It also supports other features like Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, FM Radio, GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo.
