Snapdragon 665 vs Snapdragon 712 CPU & GPU


Starting the comparison with the CPU section, Snapdragon 665 has 64-bit octa-core which has Qualcomm Kryo 260 CPU cores. The Kryo 260 CPU includes 4 ARM Cortex-A73 Gold cores clocked at 2.00GHz and other 4 Cortex-A53 Silver cores running at 1.80GHz clock speed. While on the other side, in Snapdragon 712 you also get an octa-core CPU based on 64-bit architecture. It has Kryo 360 CPU which includes 2 Cortex-A75 Gold cores clocked at 2.30GHz and other 6 Cortex-A55 Silver cores operating at 1.70GHz clock speed.

In the case of CPU, Snapdragon 712 is a better processor than Snapdragon 665 having newer and better CPU cores having higher CPU frequency.


Coming to the GPU section, here Snapdragon 665 got Qualcomm Adreno 610 GPU while in Snapdragon 712, you get the company’s Adreno 616 GPU with a peak frequency of 550MHz. Manufacturing Process

Talking about their manufacturing process, Snapdragon 665 is manufactured on the 11nm manufacturing process while Snapdragon 712 works on the 10nm manufacturing process, so here again Snapdragon 712 wins having better manufacturing. Having a better manufacturing process, Snapdragon 712 is a more powerful and more power-efficient processor than Snapdragon 665. Snapdragon 712 is an upper-mid-range processor while Snapdragon 665 is a mid-range processor, so obviously, Snapdragon 712 can’t let Snapdragon 665 go ahead.

Moving to their camera department, Snapdragon 665 comes with Qualcomm Spectra 165 image signal processor – a 14-bit dual ISP. Using this ISP, Snapdragon 665 can support up to 16MP dual camera sensors at 30fps with MFNR & ZSL and single camera sensor up to 25MP at 30fps with MFNR & ZSL. Without MFNR & ZSL, it can go up to 48MP. Speaking of video recording, it can record 720p videos at 240fps, 1080p at 120fps and 4K UHD at 30fps.

On the other side, in Snapdragon 712 you get Spectra 250 Image Signal Processor which is also a 14-bit dual ISP and capable to support a dual camera up to 20MP at 30fps with MFNR & ZSL and single camera up to 32MP at 30fps with MFNR & ZSL. With MFNR only, it can support up to 48MP camera and up to 192MP without MFNR & ZSL. It also can record videos the same as Snapdragon 665.

RAM & Storage

In this section, both processors are the same. Both Snapdragon 665 and Snapdragon 712 support Dual-Channel, 16 bit LPDDR4X RAM up to 8GB with a frequency of 1866MHz. Both support the same storage which is UFS 2.1 & eMMC 5.1.


In the display section, Snapdragon 665 can support up to Full HD+ display with a maximum resolution of 2520×1080 pixels while Snapdragon 712 can support up to Quad HD+ HDR10 displays with a resolution of up to 3360×1440 pixels. Here again, Snapdragon 712 is ahead over Snapdragon 665 having support for better displays.

For handling AI tasks, Snapdragon 712 got Qualcomm Hexagon 685 DSP coupled with Hexagon Vector eXtensions and Qualcomm All-Ways Aware technology. While on the other side, Snapdragon 665 has Qualcomm Hexagon 686 DSP which is an upgrade over Hexagon 685 DSP present on Snapdragon 712. For fast charging, this SoC supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology while Snapdragon 665 supports Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
