In May 2018, Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 710 chipset for mid to high-range devices. With this chipset Qualcomm announced its new Snapdragon 700 series to fill the gap between Snapdragon 600 and Snapdragon 800 series. Now after less than one year the launch of Snapdragon 710, the company has announced the Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 chipset as a successor of Snapdragon 710 chipset. It doesn’t offer a huge jump in features and performance compared to Snapdragon 710. We are not comparing this chipset with Snapdragon 710 because we have already published an article of the comparision of Snapdragon 712 and Snapdragon 710 chipsets. Snapdragon 712 vs Helio P90 CPU & GPU
Starting with Snapdragon 712 chipset, it is build using the 10nm manufacturing process. It offers 64-bit Octa-Core CPU having 8 Kryo 360 cores. The Kryo 360 means it has core configuration of 2+6. It has 2 Gold Cortex-A75 Cores clocked at 2.3GHz and 6 Silver Cortex-A53 Cores clocked at 1.8GHz. In case of GPU, the Snapdragon 712 has Adreno 616 GPU same as Snapdragon 710 chipset.
Moving on MediaTek Helio P90 chipset, it also offers 64-bit Octa-Core CPU and build using the 12nm manufacturing process. It has 2 ARM’s Cortex-A75 performance cores clocked at 2.2GHz and other 6 Cortex-A55 battery-efficient cores work with a max speed of up to 2.0GHz. In terms of GPU, the MediaTek Helio P90 has IMG PowerVR GM 9446 GPU.
The Snapdragon 712 chipset has newer and better CPU and GPU compared to Helio P90 chipset. Also it is more power efficient compared to Helio P90 because of 10nm manufacturing process. So in this case the newer Snapdragon 712 chipset comes as a winner.

The GMAC or Giga Multiply-Accumulate operations are the words which is used to measure the chip’s AI processing power.
Snapdragon 712 vs Helio P90 Supported Features
Speaking of Snapdragon 712 chipset, the Image Signal Processor is Spectra 250 in this chipset. It is a dual ISP of 14-bit that supports up to 16MP dual camera at 30fps, a single camera of up to 32MP at 30fps with MFNR and ZSL and 48MP at MFNR too. Also it can capture up to 192MP snapshots. It can support QHD+ display and max resolution up to 3360×1440. It also supports 4K Ultra HD external display.
On the other side, the MediaTek Helio P90 chipset has support for dual camera up to 24 + 16MP and a single camera up to 48MP. It can record videos up to 3840 x 2160 pixels. With 48MP camera it can record videos at 30fps with ZSD and its 16MP camera can record videos at 120fps. In display section it can support display resolution of up to 2520 x 1080 pixels.
RAM & Storage
In case of RAM, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 chipset supports up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM with a clocked speed of up to 1866Mhz. It supports UFS 2.1 type storage.
The Helio P90 chipset also supports up to 8GB 2-Channel LPDDR4X RAM with max speed of up to 1866MHz. The storage supported by this chipset is UFS 2.1.
Connectivity wise the Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 chipset has X15 LTE modem with download speed up to 800Mbps using LTE Cat.15 and up to 150Mbps upload speed using LTE Cat.13. While the Helio P90 chipset has 4G LTE Cat-12 for download and Cat-13 for upload. Other features like like Tri-band Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 5, NFC are same of both chipsets. The Snapdragon 712 chipset also supports Quick Charge 4+.
Conclution – The Snapdragon 712 chipset works using 10nm manufacturing process with the help of that it consumes less power compared to Helio P90 chipset.
