Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 vs HiSilicon Kirin 710

The Snapdragon 712 chipset was launched in February 2019. The company announced this series in 2019 by launching the Snapdragon 710 chipset. It was the first chipset of this series. This company announced this series as upper mid-range series to fill the gap between the mid-range and flagship range. The performance of the Snapdragon 710 chipset is quite good and after one year of launch this chipset, the company brought Snapdragon 712 chipset as its successor.

The Snapdragon 712 comes with almost the same features, it has only overclocked CPU and GPU over the Snapdragon 710. In the market, Huawei also has its mid-range chipset the Kirin 710 that also offers good features. Considering this we decided to compare Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 vs Kirin 710 chipset and trying to find out the difference between Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 and HiSilicon Kirin710 chipset.  Read this comparison completely to know their features and specs. GPU & GPU Comparison

Starting the comparison with the CPU of Snapdragon 712, it features a 64-bit octa-core Kryo 360 CPU same as the Snapdragon 710. This CPU features a combination of high-efficiency and high-performance. Its high-performance cores include 2 ARM Cortex-A75 Cores clocked at 2.3GHz while the high-efficiency cores include 6 Cortex-A55 Cores running at up to 1.7GHz clock speed.

On the other hand, the Kirin 710 also comes with a 64-bit octa-core CPU which features a combination of big & little cores. Its big cores include 4 ARM Cortex-A73 Cores clocked at up to 2.2GHz and the little cores include 4 Cortex-A53 cores operating at up to 1.7GHz clock speed.

Here the Snapdragon 712 has a better CPU than the Kirin 710 having big cores with higher frequency and little cores with the same frequency. Also, the architecture of big cores is better in the Snapdragon 712 than the Kirin 710. This is because Snapdragon 812 is a new chipset whereas the Kirin 710 is an old chipset.

Moving to their GPU section, here Snapdragon 712 ships with the company’s Adreno 616 GPU with a peak frequency of 550MHz while the Kirin 710 has the Mali-G51 GPU. In this case, the Snapdragon 712 has a better GPU than the Kirin 710. Having a better GPU, Snapdragon 712 is capable to provide a smooth gaming experience.

Manufacturing Process

In the case of the manufacturing process, the Snapdragon 712 is built using the 10nm manufacturing process whereas the Kirin 710 is fabricated on the 12nm process technology. In this case, the Snapdragon 712 is also a better chipset than the Kirin 710.

Snapdragon 712 vs Kirin 710 AI Capabilities

To perform the AI tasks, the company has provided Hexagon 685 DSP in the Snapdragon 712 chipset. This is the company’s 4th gen engine which is coupled with Hexagon Vector eXtensions and Qualcomm All-Ways Aware technology. In the mid-range segment, it delivers very well AI performance.

On the other side, the Kirin 710 supports AI-powered scene recognition for photography, making it easy to get great photos. It is not an AI-based chipset but brings some AI features to perform AI tasks. So here also the Snapdragon 712 is a better chipset than the Kirin 710.

Snapdragon 712 vs Kirin 710 Other Features

In the camera department, the Kirin 710 can handle up to 40MP + 24MP dual camera sensors and up to 48MP single camera sensor whereas the Snapdragon 712 has the Spectra 250 image signal processor which is a 14 bit dual ISP. Using this ISP, it can support up to 32MP single camera with MFNR & ZSL at 30fps, up to 48MP with MFNR only and up to 192MP without MFNR and ZSL. While in terms of dual camera it has support for up to 20MP dual cameras.

RAM and Storage

Speaking of RAM support, here the Snapdragon 712 supports 16-bit Dual-Channel LPDDR4X RAM up to 8GB operating at up to 1866MHz while the Kirin 710 supports 32-bit Dual-Channel RAM from 6GB to 10GB.
In the case of storage, the Snapdragon 712 and the Kirin 710 have support for storage types of eMMC 5.1 and UFS 2.1.

In the display section, Snapdragon 712 can handle up to Quad HD+(3360×1440) HDR10 displays while the Kirin 710 is capable to support up to Full HD+ displays with a maximum resolution of 2340×1080 pixels.

Connectivity Features Comparison
