Last year Qualcomm introduced its Snapdragon 700 series by launching Snapdragon 710 SoC. The company announced this series to fill the gap between Snapdragon 600 and 800 series. Snapdragon 600 series is a mid-range series while Snapdragon 800 series is flagship series, so Snapdragon 700 series was introduced as upper-mid-range series. Many smartphone manufacturers adopted Snapdragon 710 chipset in their smartphone. After the company recently introduced Snapdragon 712 SoC as the successor of Snapdragon 710.
After that, the company also introduced Snapdragon 730 and 730G chipsets as the successor of Snapdragon 710 and 712. Snapdragon 730 & 730G are the first chipsets of Snapdragon 700 series having the latest CPU cores. The performance of these chipsets is very good. On the other side, Mediatek also has a player Helio P00 in the mid-range segment launched last year. This is also a good processor and many smartphone manufacturers adopted this chipset also. Starting with the CPU of Snapdragon 730, it brings an octa-core CPU based on 64-bit which features Kryo 470 CPU cores. The Kryo 470 CPU includes 2 ARM Cortex-A76 Gold cores clocked at 2.20GHz and other 6 Cortex-A55 Silver cores running at 1.80GHz while MediaTek Helio P70 also features a 64-bit octa-core CPU which includes 4 ARM’s Cortex-A75 powerful cores clocked at 2.20GHz and other 4 Cortex-A55 efficiency cores operating at 2.00GHz.

This chipset works on the 8nm manufacturing process while MediaTek uses the old 12nm manufacturing process to build its mid-range processors. The Helio P70 also fabricated on this same 12nm process technology because of which Snapdragon 730 is a more power-efficient and power chipset than MediaTek Helio P70.

Coming to their camera section, here Snapdragon 730 features Spectra 350 image signal processor – a 14-bit Dual ISP which can support a dual camera up to 22MP at 30fps with MFNR & ZSL and single camera up to 36MP at 30fps with MFNR & ZSL. It can go up to 48MP by compromising with ZSL and without MFNR & ZSL it can go up to 192MP. Speaking of its recording capability, it can record videos in 4K HDR at 30fps, in 1080p at 120fps and in 720p at 240fps.

To perform AI tasks, Snapdragon 730 got Qualcomm Neural Processing SDK along with Hexagon 688 DSP coupled with Hexagon Vector eXtensions, Hexagon Voice Assistant and Qualcomm All-Ways Aware technology. With the combination of these features, this chipset can handle all AI tasks smoothly.
On the other side, MediaTek Helio P70 has an upgrade over Helio P60 which was the first chipset in mid-range having dedicated APU. The Helio P70 features APU 2.0 which is capable to deliver a peak performance of 1,127 GMAC/s. Here Snapdragon 730 will perform better having an integrated NPU along with Hexagon 688 DSP.
