Snapdragon 730 vs Snapdragon 835 CPU & GPU

Before speaking of CPU, let’s tell you about their fabrication process. The newer Snapdragon 730 chipset works on 8nm process technology, while the old Snapdragon 835 works on 10nm manufacturing process. This means the newer Snapdragon 730 is more power efficient compared to Snapdragon 835.

Moving on CPU, Snapdragon 730 has a 64-bit Octa-Core CPU. Its CPU is powered by Kryo 470 Cores means it has 2 Gold Cortex-A76 Cores clocked at 2.2GHz clock speed and other 6 Silver Cortex-A55 Cores running at 1.8GHz. It got Adreno 618 GPU clocked at 500MHz for graphics.

On the other side, Snapdragon 835 has 64-bit Octa-Core Kryo 280 CPU clocked at 2.45GHz. The Kryo 380 CPU houses 4 Cortex-A73 Cores clocked at 2.45GHz and 4 Cortex-A53 Cores running at 1.90GHz clock speed. In the case of GPU, it got Adreno Adreno 540 GPU clocked at 710MHz.

Here the newer Snapdragon 730 has better and new CPU cores whicle the old Snapdragon 835 features better GPU for gaming and other heavy tasks. Gamers can still go with Adreno 540 of Snapdragon 835.

Snapdragon 730 vs Snapdragon 835 Camera Support

Moving on camera department, as you know, buyers are now more smarter before ever. They check everything such as processor, battery, camera, RAM-Storage, display and many more things before buying any smartphone. Camera is also an important part of any smartphone. Also the trend of 48MP camera is going on. The Snapdragon 730 has a Spectra 350 Computer Vision ISP which is a 14-bit Dual Image Signal Processor. It allows to this chipset to support a single camera up to 36MP with MFNR and ZSL, 48MP with MFNR and up to 192MP without MFNR and ZSL. While it can support dual camera up to 22MP with MFNR and ZSL.

At the same time, Snapdragon 835 has Spectra 180 ISP which is a 14-bit Dual Image Signel Processor and supports dual camera up to 16MP with MFNR and ZSL. In case of single camera it supports up to 32MP camera with MFNR and ZSL.

In the case of camera, the newer Snapdragon 730 has upgraded ISP and supports better camera sensor.

Snapdragon 730 vs Snapdragon 835 AI Capabilities

Nowdays the trend of AI is also going on huge. The Snapdragon 835 has Qualcomm Hexagon 682 DSP while Snapdragon 730 has its upgraded Hexagon 688 DSP for better AI performance.

Connectivity Features

Connectivity wise, the newer Snapdragon 730 features Qualcomm Snapdragon X15 LTE modem which can capture a download speed up to 800Mbps using LTE Cat-15 and upload speed up to 150Mbps using LTE Cat-13. It supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology to charge the phone. The chipset has other connectivity option like Bluetooth 5.0, Dual-band Wi-Fi, VoLTE, VoWiFi, USB 3.1, USB-C.

At the same time, Snapdragon 835 has Snapdragon X16 LTE modem which can provide a download speed up to 1Gbps using LTE Cat-16 and upload speed up to 150Mbps using LTE Cat-13. It also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology and other features like like Bluetooth 5.0, Dual-band Wi-Fi, VoLTE, VoWiFi, USB 3.1, USB-C.

In the section of connectivity, the old Snapdragon 835 is ahead over newer Snapdragon 730 having better modem Snapdragon X16 LTE. And both chipsets support same RAM and storage type so there is no need to compare this section.

Conclusion

Moving on conclusion, in overall comparision the newer Snapdragon 730 performas better. It has bette CPU, better manufacturing process for less power consumption, better camera support and better AI features. While the old Snapdragon 835 has better GPU for better gaming and better modem for better connectivity. As you know it is a higher range chipset over Snapdragon 700 series so it has to offer something better over Snapdragon 730. But in overall comparision, Snapdragon 730 performs well. So it will not be wrong to say that winner.
