MediaTek just announced its Helio G90 series for game lovers who can’t afford flagship-level smartphones. The company has introduced this series in the competition of Snapdragon 700 series of Qualcomm and under this series, the company will launch chipsets in the mid-range segment. Although, the company has launched two chipsets under this series – Helio G90 & G90T. These chipsets will direct hit from Snapdragon 730 & 730. We have already compared these chipsets with Snapdragon 730 & 730G. Here we will compare MediaTek Helio G90 vs Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 to know the difference between Snapdragon 675 and Helio G90.

Snapdragon 675 was also announced in the past days by Qualcomm. This SoC easily beats Snapdragon 710 in terms of CPU performance. In the mid-range segment, this chipset performs very well. Helio G90 vs Snapdragon 675 CPU & GPU


Starting with MediaTek Helio G90, it brings 64-bit eight-core CPU which includes 2 groups of CPU cores – powerful cores & efficiency cores. Its powerful cores are 2 ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.00GHz and other efficiency cores are 6 Cortex-A55 cores running with a maximum speed of 2.00GHz.

Speaking of Snapdragon 675, it also got an eight-core CPU based on a 64-bit architecture which includes Kryo 460 CPU cores. The Kryo 460 CPU cores include 2 ARM Cortex-A76 powerful cores clocked at 2.02GHz while other 6 Cortex-A55 efficiency cores running with a maximum speed of 1.8GHz.

In terms of CPU, the newer MediaTek Helio G90 is better than Snapdragon 675 having higher CPU frequency. The CPU cores of both chipsets are the same but the speed of Helio G90 is better.


In the case of GPU, MediaTek Helio G90 is coupled with ARM Mali-G76 3EEMC4 GPU which runs with a maximum speed of 720MHz while Snapdragon 675 got the company’s Adreno 612 GPU. The Adreno 600 series is suitable for mid-range smartphones. But at the time of releasing the Helio G90 or G90T, the company compared it with Snapdragon 730 and it performs well than Snapdragon 730. The Snapdragon 730 is the upper-range chipset of Snapdragon 675 and it can’t beat Helio G90 then how can Snapdragon 675 beat Helio G90. So in terms of CPU, also Helio G90 is ahead over Snapdragon 675.

Manufacturing Process

Talking about Snapdragon 675, it works on the 11nm fabrication process whereas the Helio G90 is still fabrication using 12nm process technology. Using 11nm Snapdragon 675 will consume less power than Helio G90. So in the case of power efficiency, Snapdragon 675 is better than Helio G90.

The camera department of MediaTek Helio G90 is improved over other mid-range chipsets of MediaTek. The Helio G90 got a triple Image Signa Processor. Using this ISP is can support up to 48MP single camera sensor at 30fps and dual camera up to 24MP + 16MP at 30fps. It is capable to record videos in 4K at 30fps and Full HD at 120fps and HD at 240fps.

On the other side, Snapdragon 675 arrives with the company’s Snapdragon Spectra 250L Image Signal Processor, it is a 14bit dual ISP. Using this ISP, Snapdragon 675 can support up to 16MP + 16MP dual-camera at 30fps with MFNR (Multi-Frame Noice Reduction) and ZSL(Zero Shutter Lag). Also, it can support a single camera up to 25MP at 30fps with MFNR & ZSL. With MFNR only it can go up to 48MP and up to 192MP with MFNR & ZSL. It also can do recording same as Helio G90 – 720p @ 240 FPS, 1080p @ 120 FPS and 4K UHD @ 30fps.

RAM & Storage

Here the Helio G90 can support LPDDR3 RAM up to 4GB and LPDDR4X RAM up to 8GB at 2133MHz while Snapdragon 675 can support LPDDR4X RAM up to 8GB at 1866MHz.
In the case of storage, MediaTek Helio G90 supports UFS 2.1 & eMMC 5.1 based storage while Snapdragon 675 also supports UFS 2.1 & eMMC 5.1 types of storage.


In this case, MediaTek Helio G90 supports up to Full HD+(2400 x 1080) displays with a max aspect ratio of 12:9 at 60Hz while Snapdragon 675 also supports up to Full HD+ displays with a maximum resolution of 2520x1080pixels.

Snapdragon 675 vs Helio G90 Artificial Intelligence

In the case of AI, Snapdragon 675 got the company’s Hexagon 685 DSP to handling AI tasks or processing all the AI data. It also features Qualcomm Vector processor coupled with the Qualcomm All-Ways Aware Technology. All these things work together for handling AI tasks in Snapdragon 675.

On the other hand, MediaTek Helio G90 has dual APU of MediaTek running at 750MHz. It has dedicated APU using that it can easily beat Snapdragon 730 SoC in terms of AI. If it can beat SD 730 then Snapdragon 675 can’t overtake it in terms of AI. So in the case of AI, MediaTek Helio G90 is a better chipset than Snapdragon 675.

Snapdragon 675 vs Helio G90 Connectivity Features

Connectivity-wise, Snapdragon 675 got Qualcomm Snapdragon X12 LTE Modem which enables it to capture a maximum download speed of 600Mbps using LTE Cat.12 and maximum upload speed of 150Mbps using LTE Cat.13. It also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4 technology for fast charging.

On the other side, MediaTek Helio G90 also can provide a download speed of up to 600Mbps using LTE Cat.12 and upload speed up to 150Mbps using LTE Cat.13. Other features like Bluetooth 5.0, Wifi, GPU, FM Radio, NFC, Dual 4G VoLTE, VoWiFi, etc. are the same in both.
