In April 2019, Qualcomm unveiled its three new chipsets – Snapdragon 665, 730 & 730G. As their names suggest that the Snapdragon 665 is a successor of the Snapdragon 660 and the Snapdragon 730 & 730G are the successors of Snapdragon 710. The Snapdragon 660 was the most successful mid-range chipset of Qualcomm which was used in many mid-range smartphones. The Snapdragon 710 was also quite good mid-range chipset and now we have their successors. But with almost the same features there are many more chipsets available in the market. Qualcomm also has many chipsets against these chipsets. Here we are talking about Snapdragon 670 which was announced in 2018 with great specs. Snapdragon 730 vs Snapdragon 670 CPU & GPU
Talking about the CPU section of Qualcomm Snapdragon 730, here it has an eight-core Kryo 470 CPU based on 64-bit architecture. It is the strongest SoC under Snapdragon 700 series with the latest CPU architecture. It has a combination of high-efficiency and high-performance cores. Its first group of high-performance cores houses two ARM Cortex-A76 Gold Cores clocked at 2.2GHz and the high-efficiency cores include 6 Cortex-A55 Silver Cores operating at up to 1.8GHz clock speed.
While on the other side, the Snapdragon 670 also brings a 64-bit octa-core Kryo 360 CPU which also features a combination of high-efficiency and high-performance cores. Its first group of high-performance cores houses two ARM Cortex-A75 Gold Cores clocked at 2.2GHz and the high-efficiency cores include 6 Cortex-A55 Silver Cores operating at up to 1.7GHz clock speed.
Here the Gold cores have same clock speed in both chipsets but the Snapdragon 730 has the latest CPU cores while the Silver cores have a higher frequency in the Snapdragon 730. Both the Silver and Gold cores are better in the Snapdragon 730. So the CPU performance of Snapdragon 730 is better compared to the Snapdragon 670.
Now coming to the GPU section, here Snapdragon 730 has the Adreno 618 GPU with a peak frequency of 500MHz while the Snapdragon 670 has the Adreno 615 GPU. Here the GPU is also better in the Snapdragon 730. The Snapdragon 730 is an upper mid-range chipset whereas the Snapdragon 670 is a mid-range chipset. The chipsets of Snapdragon 700 series are stronger than the chipsets of the Snapdragon 600 series.
Speaking of the manufacturing process, here the Snapdragon 730 is built using the 10nm manufacturing process whereas the Snapdragon 670 works on the 10nm fabrication process. Here both chipsets have a difference of 2nm and with a difference of the 10nm Snapdragon 730 is a more power-efficient chipset than the Snapdragon 670.

Moving to the camera department, here the Snapdragon 670 has the Qualcomm Spectra 250 image sensor processor which is a dual ISP based on 14-bit architecture. Using this ISP, the Snapdragon 670 can handle up to 16MP dual camera and single camera up to 25MP at 30fps. It also can go up to 48MP by compromising with MFNR and ZSL.
At the same time, Snapdragon 730 features the Qualcomm Spectra 350 image sensor processor that is an upgrade over the Spectra 250 IPS of Snapdragon 670. Using this ISP, the Snapdragon 730 can support up to 22MP dual camera at 30fps and up to 36MP single camera at 30fps with MFNR and ZSL. It can go up to 192MP without MFNR & ZSL and up to 48MP by compromising with ZSL.
Both chipsets can do recording up to 4K HDR at 30fps, 1080p at 120fps and 720p at 240fps.
Here the Snapdragon 730 has a better ISP which supports better camera sensors than the Snapdragon 670, so here the Snapdragon 730 is a better SoC compared to the Snapdragon 670.
RAM & Storage
Speaking of RAM & Storage, the Snapdragon 670 can support 16-bit Dual-Channel LPDDR4X RAM up to 8GB operating at 1866MHz clock speed and storage type of UFS 2.1.
While the Snapdragon 730 also has support for 16-bit Dual-Channel LPDDR4X RAM up to 8GB clocked at 1866MHz and storage type of UFS 2.1.
Talking about their display section, here the Snapdragon 670 has support for up to FHD+ displays with a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels while the Snapdragon 730 also has support for FHD+ displays with a maximum resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels.
Snapdragon 730 vs Snapdragon 670 Artificial Intelligence
Speaking of Snapdragon 730, it brings the Qualcomm Hexagon 688 DSP to perform all the AI tasks. This is the company’s 4th gen engine coming with Hexagon Vector eXtensions and Qualcomm All-Ways Aware technology. With a combination of these features, it offers a very well AI performance in the mid-range segment.
While on the other side, the Snapdragon 670 has the Qualcomm Hexagon 685 DSP coupled with Hexagon Vector eXtensions and Qualcomm All-Ways Aware technology. Here the Hexagon 688 DSP of Snapdragon 730 is an upgraded version of the Hexagon 685 DSP present on Snapdragon 670. The upgraded variant brings improvements over its predecessor, so having the upgraded version the Snapdragon 730 has better AI processing than the Snapdragon 670.
Connectivity-wise in the Snapdragon 730 you get the Qualcomm Snapdragon X15 LTE modem with a maximum downloading speed of 800Mbps using LTE Cat.15 and an uploading speed of 150Mbps using LTE Cat.13.
At the same time, the Snapdragon 670 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon X12 LTE modem which is a downgrade of the Snapdragon X15 of Snapdragon 730. The Snapdragon 670 has a maximum downloading speed of 600Mbps using LTE Cat.12 and an uploading speed of 150Mbps using LTE Cat.13. While both chipsets have support for other features like WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS, FM Radio, USB 3.1, USB-C and Quick Charge 4+ technology for fast charging.
As you seen in the comparison, Snapdragon 730 is a upper range chipset than Snapdragon 670. Also Snapdragon 670 is one year old chipset because of which the newer Snapdragon 730 can easily beat it in every cases. The Snapdragon 730 has better CPU, better GPU and better process technology than Snapdragon 670 because of which Snapdragon 730 has better performance than Snapdragon 670.
